The twin Vtubers Fuwawa and Mococo Abyssgard, known as Fuwamoco, released an original song called “Born to Be Bau”dol.” While the two released covers since the Hololive English Advent debut in July 2023, this is their first original track.

“Born to be Bau”dol” is by PandaBoY, who worked on other Hololive Vtuber original songs like “Blue Clapper” and “Twinkle 4 You.” The composer also worked on songs for The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls, D4DJ, FREE, and The Quintessential Quintuplets. There’s no single available to buy just yet. However, the music video for the new song is live on the Fuwamoco YouTube channel for the Vtubers Fuwawa and Mococo.

Here’s the full track. Sawtowne worked on the animation for it. Also, in addition to singing the song, Fuwawa and Mococo helped with the translation. (Turning on closed captions offers an English subtitle option.)

Prior to this track, the last Fuwamoco song was a cover of the Round Table and Nino song used for the anime Chobits, “Let Me Be with You.” 

Also, for some covers, we see both Fuwawa and Mococo versions. This happened with “Cute na Kanojo.”

As part of the Hololive Advent first anniversary celebration, the twins and other members Shiori Novella, Nerissa Ravencroft, and Koseki Bijou released an original song named “Sirens.”

Nijisanji Vtuber Derem Kado, who was originally a part of Nijisanji ID before Anycolor folded it into the Japanese branch, announced on her social media account that she now on hiatus “indefinitely until my heart is healed.” This comes after a major music video project she worked on was canceled. 

The project in question was called LASTRENADE. It would have been a music video for all three members of the 53Renade unit, which consisted of Derem Kado, Nagisa Arcinia, and Reza Avanluna, featuring fan art from people who appreciated their work. The deadline for the project’s submissions was August 24, 2023. However, Reza graduated in September 2023. Derem noted that health issues alsoforced her to pause work on it initially. She then noted “Reza has graduated for too long so it couldn’t be released.” 

In the Derem Kado statement about the LASTRENADE project for the three Nijisanji Vtubers, she directed people to “please ask Anycolor” and noted “I am tired of explaining something ambiguously, and forcing myself to take all by myself.”

The Final Fantasy VII Remake August 2024 calendar images are live and mark a shift in how they are presented, given that FFVII Rebirth versions of Aerith and Barret are the stars this time around. It features the duo in optional costumes they can wear in the game and features their Synergy Ability pose.

In FFVII Rebirth, characters can team up for special moves called Synergy Abilities, and one for Aerith and Barret is called Sweet-and-Sour Salvo. When the two perform it, they first put on matching sunglasses and pose before attacking. The two also appear to be in the Costa del Sol region of the game, based on their attire and the scenery.

Here are the two options for the FFVII Remake Aerith and Barret calendar, which feature a landscape one for PCs and vertical one for mobile devices.

Previously, these calendars tended to focus on single characters. Some of the past ones in 2024 featured Zack Fair, Sephiroth, and Vincent.

While there isn’t a physical FFVII Remake calendar for 2025 yet, there is one coming up for FFXIV. Square Enix already started taking orders for it. It features art from Dawntrail, the latest expansion.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and FFVII Rebirth is out on the PS5.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (The Eternity You Desire), the visual novel Age released before the Muv Luv series, will be released on PCs worldwide in Japanese and English. This Enhanced Edition will debut on Steam on October 17, 2024. 

The Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Enhanced Edition will be an all-ages release with voice acting from the 2008 Latest Edition released in Japan. It also has a “retelling of Chapter 1” and three additional after stories. It begins with a young man named Takayuki meeting Haruka, via Mitsuki, and developing an initial relationship with her. While there is the love triangle element with the three of them, there are also other heroines to romance as well. 

It’s possible someone might know the Kimi ga Nozomu Eien story without playing the game, due to the anime based on it appearing outside of Japan. It was originally handled by Funimation outside of Japan, and it is currently streaming on Crunchyroll. It also appeared physically worldwide, though that release is now out of print.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien: Enhanced Edition will appear in Japanese and English worldwide on PCs on October 17, 2024. The game is available in Japan on the Dreamcast and PS2 as well.

Netflix announced that it would offer Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color for subscribers to watch, and there’s a new trailer teasing its launch on the service. As of August 1, 2024, it is now available.

Godzilla Minus One launched in October 2023. It’s a live-action Reiwa entry in the series. The actions in and around WWII led to Godzilla becoming active, and the film focuses on the effect of this on Japan and actions taken by a former soldier named Koichi Shikishima as a result of his encounters with the kaiju. 

Following the original theatrical release, the Minus Color version of the film debuted in January 2024. This is an entirely black-and-white version of the movie. It was completely and totally edited and adjusted for that release.

The original Godzilla Minus One is already on Netflix. It debuted on the service in June 2024. A Blu-ray Collector’s Edition that includes both versions of the film will release in September 2024.

HoYoVerse offered updates on the Genshin Impact banner for new heroine Emilie and the rerun banner for Yelan. Both start on August 6, 2024 and, when they do, will include Razor, Xiangling, and Yanfei as the focus four-stars.

Emilie is the entirely new Dendro five-star unit in Genshin Impact, and she’s the last new addition in the 4.0 series of updates. She uses a polearm to attack. As she’s a Fontaine character, she also has a Pneuma alignment. Her “Pomum de Ambra Chapter” character quest also debuts once her banner launches.

With Yelan, this is her fourth rerun banner since her Genshin Impact debut in 2.7 back in May 2022. She’s a Hydro archer from Liyue. She typically is used as a sub-DPS in the game.

As for the new focus four-stars, here’s who they are and their elements and weapons.

• Razor: Electro claymore-wielder.
• Xiangling: Pyro polearm-user.
• Yanfei: Pyro catalyst mage.

Both Razor and Xiangling have been a part of Genshin Impact since the game's launch, with the latter being offered up as a free unit for players.

Genshin Impact is available for the PS4, PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and the Emilie and Yelan rerun banners start on August 6, 2024.

Do you know how long people have been asking for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 to be released in English and show up worldwide? I’m pretty sure since February 4, 2011, one day after it launched on the DS in Japan. It only got worse when Capcom did release a mobile port in Japan in 2017, but then only released the original Ace Attorney Investigations Android and iOS port everywhere. But Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is remedying that injustice, and after playing through some early cases I think it will be a welcome prospect for players. 

Both of the games in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection star prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. They’re also a part of the canon timeline for the Ace Attorney series in general, taking place after Trials and Tribulation. (The first game is immediately after, and the second immediately follows the events of the first.) In each one, Edgeworth may feel a bit more like a detective than lawyer, as he’ll first investigate a scene after a crime, then go through a phase where people and suspects are confronted. The sequel also introduces a Mind Chess element that involves a timed minigame where you talk with your opponent to learn details and eventually beat them to get critical testimony.

When going through the first Ace Attorney Investigations, it was a pleasant homecoming. I really appreciated that spin-off when it first released worldwide, and the remastered graphics, new character sprite, and work put in to bring it to the Switch all made my initial case come together well. I especially liked the history feature, as it is a quality of life option I appreciate in other visual novel and adventure games. Considering what Edgeworth is dealing with here, it’s really helpful to be able to look back. 

As for my experiences with the first episode of Ace Attorney Investigations 2, I can’t express how pleased I was in the initial moments. The consistency with the localization honestly made it feel as though nothing changed and as if there hadn’t been any gap between global releases. The nature of the cases also fit in well, especially with the first picking up with an international incident that ties into the original game.

The one thing I did notice as I went through Ace Attorney Investigations Collection is that the new HD sprites really felt like a marked difference. I attribute this, in part, to the fact that even the original DS game used the more refined type of portraits for characters and, regardless of whether you select the HD or pixel art sprites before choosing a game or loading a save file, everything else features the remastered backgrounds, portraits, and texts. So while having the pixel art sprites is a fun bit of nostalgia, I found they felt rather out of place when actually going through the cases. 

After going through the initial cases in Ace Attorney Investigations Collection, I think everyone who has been waiting years for a chance to play this missing Edgeworth game will be pleased with how Capcom chose to honor these spin-offs. I’m not done with my new journey to bring the truth to light, and I’m already impressed with how well it’s been handled. Especially considering how the HD sprites and remastered elements look so far.

Ace Attorney Investigations Collection will come to the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC on September 6, 2024.

A Persona art book book is on the way, as Udon is publishing the Atlus and Shigenori Soejima Persona 5 + Persona 5 Royal: Official Design Works outside Japan. Pre-orders are now already open on Amazon ahead of its November 26, 2024, with the hardcover book costing $73.40.

As the title notes, this art book covers both Persona 5 and the updated Royal release. The product listing noted that concept art and other types of illustrations of characters, enemies, and other game elements will be present. There will also be an interview with Soejima, the character designer for the entry.

Udon’s been behind a number of Persona 5 book releases. It released three Persona 5: Mementos Mission manga volumes. It also handled the localization and publication duties for Persona 5: Comic a la Carte outside Japan. Its been behind some merchandise like pin sets too. Other entries in the series’ manga lines also are handled by the company, such as ones based on Persona 3 and 4.

The Persona 5 + Persona 5 Royal: Official Design Works art book will launch on November 26, 2024, according to the Amazon listing. Persona 5 is on the PS3 and PS4, while Royal is on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Square Enix announced its FFXIV PAX West 2024 plans, which include a UI panel, a Dawntrail Valigarmanda Challenge, and things like photo ops, experiences, and merchandise. It will be at the entire event starting on August 30, 2024, and the panel will be held on August 31, 2024. 

The panel is called “Putting the 'U' in UI: Tailoring the Final Fantasy XIV Experience,” and it will be held at 11am PT/2pm ET/8pm CET on August 31, 2024. People actually at PAX West can attend in-person if they go to the Blue Dragon Theatre. They will also get a Dawntrail mini poster. However, it will also be streamed on the FFXIV Twitch and PAX West Twitch channels as well. Lead UI Designer Kei Odagiri will host the presentation. In addition to UI, menus, and general development, the panel will discuss the Group Pose photo option.

The FFXIV Valigarmanda Challenge will involve the Trial boss from Dawntrail. Square Enix noted people attending will be able to team up to get a Dawntrail tote bag with a Tour Tural design. As a reminder, the Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme) Trial appeared alongside the expansion and is an eight person fight.

The other elements of the FFXIV booth experience involve typical convention affair. There will be photo ops, including cosplay gatherings. People new to the game can try it out and win a FFXIV Online Starter Edition PC copy for beating Garuda, Ifrit, or Titan. FFXIV Dawntrail bucket hats and lanyards will be given away, and there will be merchandise on hand too.

Square Enix announced that 15 FFXI Summertime Adventurer Support Campaign events will begin on August 14, 2024. Similar sorts of activities have run in the past, with one of the most comparable ones being the Summer of Adventure Campaign that ran in June 2023. 

Basically, the different events going on during the Summertime Adventurer Support Campaign all provide bonuses for activities people would already engage in while playing FFXI. Some of the bonuses include extra experience, extra capacity points, increased drop rates, increased aura light values, Alter Ego buffs, and other bonuses. 

Here is a list of events taking effect in-game on August 14, 2024, with explanations taken from the announcement Square Enix shared.

• Abyssea Campaign: The default light values of pearlescent, azure, golden, and silver auras will be drastically increased for the duration of the campaign.
• Alter Ego Expo: Alter egos will receive the following improvements for the duration of the campaign: alter egos' Maximum HP and MP will be increased by 50% and alter egos will have stronger resistance to status ailments.
• Bonus Bayld Campaign: For the duration of the campaign, lair, colonization, and wildskeeper reives will offer evaluation bonuses throughout their duration, approximately doubling bayld and experience gains.
• Chain Capacity Point Bonus Campaign: Experience chains will yield double to triple the normal amount of capacity points for the duration of the campaign.
• Chain Experience Bonus Campaign: Experience chains will yield double to triple the normal amount of experience for the duration of the campaign.
• Chain Monstrosity Bonus Campaign: Experience chains will yield double to triple the normal amount of experience for the duration of the campaign.
• Dark Matter Arcane Glyptics Campaign: For the duration of the campaign, Geas Fete equipment from Reisenjima can be engraved with arcane glyptics up to six times at no additional charge, with the equipment receiving the same benefits as if they were engraved with dark matter.
• Double Simulacra Segment Campaign: The drop rate for simulacra segments in colonization and lair reives will be doubled for the duration of the campaign.
• Double Unity Accolade Campaign: Unity accolade gains from completing Records of Eminence objectives and vanquishing monsters will be doubled for the duration of the campaign.
• Macrocosmic Orb Campaign: For the duration of the campaign, vanquishing certain monsters in the specific battlefields will occasionally reward players with job cards and a variety of other items. Additionally, Shemo in Port Jeuno (H-8) will exchange seals and crests at a reduced rate of 2:1. 
• Monster Rearing Campaign: Reared creatures will be twice as likely to transform for the duration of the campaign.
• Skirmish Frenzy Campaign - PLUS: Skirmishes will undergo the following changes for the duration of the campaign: personal treasure coffer ranks will increase much faster, the spawn rate of yecuexes will be increased in Alluvion Skirmishes, the spawn rate of Balamor's Adumbration will be increased in Skirmish - Yorcia Weald (U), vials of translurry will always be obtainable in Skirmish - Yorcia Weald (U), vials of transmelange are more likely to be obtained in Skirmish – Outer Ra'Kaznar (U), and the spawn rate of heartwings will be increased in Skirmishes in Yorcia Weald (U) and Outer Ra'Kaznar (U).
• Unity Wanted Campaign: For the duration of the campaign, completing Wanted I, Wanted II, and Wanted III Records of Eminence objectives will yield 2 treasure chests of each type.
• Wildskeeper Reive Campaign: Wildskeeper reives will undergo the following changes for the duration of the campaign, which are the required fame and bayld cost of the key item required to participate will be reduced, enemies will drop two pinches of high-purity bayld, enemies will drop Mog Kupons AW-WK, and the respawn times for the notorious monsters ??Colkhab, Achuka, Hurkan, Kumhau, Tchakka, and Yumcax will be reduced.

There is also a High-Tier Mission Battlefield Campaign in effect. That has two bonuses tied to it. One involves getting one more drop than usual. The other means a guarantee of a certain type of reward. People could get a beitetsu box, beitetsu case, beitetsu chunk, a boulder box, a boulder case, a pluton, a pluton box, a pluton case, or a riftborn boulder. However, only these battlefields are where that can hapen.

In the Skullgirls Mobile game, some folks who aren’t normally playable and tend to be NPCs are being made into Guest Star characters who can pop in to aid in a fight, and Roxie is the next one. She’ll be played by Anairis Quiñones in the game, and there’s no release window for her yet.

Roxie is a background character who is a part of Parasoul’s Black Egrets. She’s never been playable, but she’s often appeared as a background character during parts of the game. She was also one of the potential fighter options during the Indiegogo campaign alongside fellow team members Adam, Molly, and Panzerfaust. 

As for Quiñones, her voice may sound familiar. She’s Lynette, the four-star character from Fontaine, in Genshin Impact. She also played Kimberly in Street Fighter 6, Mirko in My Hero Academia, and Yelena in Attack on Titan.

We already know about a few other Skullgirls Mobile Guest Star characters who will eventually join the game. Minette and Brain Drain are confirmed. Minette seems to be the furthest along in development. Both were also, at one point, considered as possible playable characters in the main game during crowdfunding endeavors that included fighter votes.

Skullgirls Mobile is available on Android and Apple iOS devices, and there’s no release window for Roxie yet.

Aerith and Vincent are the latest characters on the new FFVII Ever Crisis weapon banner, which means new formal gear costumes for both of them. This marks the second outfit already for the former Turk, who debuted earlier in July 2024.

The two new weapons are the Citric Wand for Aerith and the Hugin & Munin gun for Vincent. Her new wand has the Fruitful Energy C. Ability that increases ice damage, restores her healing potency, and can increase her MATK if her health is over 50%. It also has the R. Abilities Boost MATK and Buff/Debuff Extension. The Hugin & Mugin gun has the Pentaburst C. Ability that deals non-elemental Mag Dmg to one enemy and increases his Limit Gauge. Its R. Abilities are Boost MATK and Boost Mag. Ability Pot. 

As for the two new pieces of gear in FFVII Ever Crisis, the Aerith and Vincent R Abilities were revealed as well. Her Citric Dress comes with the Magic Ability Mastery to boost her Magic Ability’s damage when her Attack Stance Command Gauge is maxed out and Magic Ward one that boosts HP and Mag Def. His Formal Attire also features Magic Ability Mastery and Magic Ward.

The last Vincent gear was called Stray Dog. One of Aerith’s last pieces of gear was inspired by the Monster Hunter series.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is available for PCs and mobile devices, and the new Aerith and Vincent banner with weapons and gear costumes is around until August 25, 2024.

Netflix shared a new trailer and release window update for the Sakamoto Days anime adaptation. It will come to the streaming service in January 2025. 

We first learned about the Sakamoto Days anime back in May 2024. Back then, a January 2025 air date was confirmed for Japan. However, a worldwide release and home wasn’t noted at the time. 

Here’s the latest trailer. English subtitles are available if closed captions are turned on. It goes over the general premise of the series. That is, Taro Sakamoto used to be a legendary hitman. When he met his future wife, he retired and started a family. Now he runs a store. However, his past catches up with him, so Sakamoto needs to rely his skills and the help of some other allies he works with and knows to protect his family and new life.

While the manga series has been running in Japan since 2020, it took a few years for it to show up worldwide. Viz Media began releasing volumes of it in English in April 2022.

The anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days will air on Netflix in January 2025, and the manga is handled by Viz Media outside Japan.

The latest Deltarune Chapter 3, 4, and 5 update is live, and it primarily focuses on how work on Chapter 4 is going and the road to the release of Chapter 3 & 4. Toby Fox noted in the July 2024 newsletter that three people completed the “unfinished Chapter 4” and some of the development tasks involve adjusting four battles, working on two cutscenes, and polishing a bit.

In the update, Fox noted that the goal is to have a simultaneous worldwide release on both consoles and PCs for the third and fourth parts. He also noted those two together are longer than the first and second ones. As for Chapter 5 of Deltarune, Fox noted initial work on bullet patterns and maps started.

Toby Fox also released a “Quests to Release Chapter 3 & 4” page that offers a more detailed explanation of the current Deltarune progress as the team works toward getting to Chapter 5. It goes over how YoYoGames made a new Gamemaker function just for this title called game_change and the challenges of being the test case first. Then it talks about getting the console versions of the game prepared. (The first two chapters appeared on the Switch and PS4.) The Japanese localization work will start after that. Finally, they’ll deal with bugs, getting a rating, and the last bits of preparation for release.

People won’t need to wait too long to work out with Vocaloids worldwide. Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku will launch in English on September 5, 2024, with it and its songs fitting right into the beginning of the promised Fall 2024 launch window. 

Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku is an exercise game, but it also has rhythm game elements since you are boxing in time to various songs. Hatsune Miku, Megurine Luka, and the Kagamine Rin and Len twins are all available as your trainers. There are also over 54 songs, though 30 of them being BGM tracks from the Fitness Boxing series proper. It will cost $49.99, and physical copies will be released.

Of those songs, some of the entirely new tracks for Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku are “Champion Road to True Love,” “Let's Mikusercise,” “Love Song ni Shukuhai o,” “Over Lit,” and “Rise Up.”

To go along with the Vocaloid theme, people can go with Fitness Boxing or Miku Exercise modes as they play. There are also special outfits inspired by the series for characters. Also, while Miku, Luka, Rin, and Len are the main draws, Evan and Lin also return for cameos from the main games.

Fitness Boxing feat Hatsune Miku is available on the Nintendo Switch in Japan and will appear in English on September 5, 2024.
